ASUS PA246Q 24-Inch Professional Super-IPS Full-HD LCD Monitor Reviews
25 of 26 people found the following review helpful Excellent "Prosumer" Monitor, March 17, 2012 By This review is from: ASUS PA246Q 24-Inch Professional Super-IPS Full-HD LCD Monitor (Personal Computers) After nearly two months of living with this monitor I think I can write a long winded report on it.
I'm the guy this monitor was designed for, a graphic designer. This monitor is used for web, photography and fine artwork reproduction purposes. I don't really do video games or movies on my PC, so you'll need to turn to some other reviewers here or elsewhere for opinions for the frame rate and ghosting issues. However, you're here mostly because you're looking for a wide gamut monitor that produces 100% of the sRGB space, and 98% Adobe RGB - 130% more than most TFT type monitors.
I've been staring at graphics monitors since 1982 starting with Barco's that were 12" across and 20" deep. They could give you a tan. Finally when Macs became real workhorses in the late 80's, we started to see a range of consumer based color monitors with great color reproduction. I worked mostly with the "big" 15" Apples for a few years. Then after a short stint with some NEC's in 1995... Read more

I use the monitor for photo & video editing and general computing. My son loves it for gaming. It is one of three monitors on my system and I drive it through the Display Port connection a high-end ATI graphics card.
My monitor has not exhibited any dead pixels or other screen quality issues. Like most other reviewers, I too find that the monitor is too bright, so I adjust the brightness to the low end of the 1-100 scale. (Like setting it at "10").
The monitor came with a color calibration report from the calibration done at the factory. I found that very little adjustment was needed once I did my own calibration.
But I have had a consistent problem that has cost some troubleshooting hours before I learned how to avoid/fix the issue.
Sometimes, the Monitor will not "Power-on". That is, after using the power button to turn it off (vs leave it in Standby),... Read more
6 of 6 people found the following review helpful Very Good $500.00 Monitor, January 5, 2012 By Steve H (GRANDVIEW, MO, US) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: ASUS PA246Q 24-Inch Professional Super-IPS Full-HD LCD Monitor (Personal Computers) I found this monitor highly suitable for my needs, I was able to calibrate to the specifications I desired with only a minor glitch. I am not sure what caused it so I will just simply state manually deleting the profile provided by ASUS was required. Until I did that I was unable to properly save profiles I created. The lesson is do not install the windows 7 driver/profile. It is only a guess that was the cause of the problem. Theoretically it should not have, but theory and practice are often not the same.
Color accuracy and monitor brightness and white point uniformity was very good. Be warned not all older calibration devices will work with this monitor and with most software you will have to manually set the brightness and other controls. With X-rite i1 profiler I set the monitor to Adobe RGB mode, set the brightness to 12% and contrast ratio target to 250. Everything other than contrast ratio was left at the default value. I obtained the selected targets... Read more
