Samsung Central Station LC27A750XS/ZA 27-Inch Wireless Docking Display C27A750X - Charcoal Reviews
19 of 19 people found the following review helpful Lots of promise, little performance, November 15, 2011 This review is from: Samsung Central Station LC27A750XS/ZA 27-Inch Wireless Docking Display C27A750X - Charcoal (Personal Computers) While the premise of this device is promising, it feels as if the product was shipped before being fully tested and all the little bugs were worked out. I purchased two of these monitors and one of them would go very dim after about 15-20 minutes, and nothing I did would wake up it up - all the buttons were inactive and the only way to get it working again was to unplug the monitor. So...one monitor is being returned for a replacement.
I agree with the other reviewers (2 as of my review) and everything they said, with one additional caveat: The USB dongle is shaped like an 'L', so depending on how your computer is configured, it will either:
a) fit in fine
b) block another USB port
c) go at the end of a bank of USB ports, potentially covering something else up (a fan, perhaps?)
d) not fit in at all - ironically, I was trying to use a Samsung series 9 ultrabook to connect, and due to the design of the ultrabook, the dongle wouldn't go in all the... Read more
17 of 18 people found the following review helpful Non HDCP Compliant & Inconvenient Center Hub, September 3, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Samsung Central Station LC27A750XS/ZA 27-Inch Wireless Docking Display C27A750X - Charcoal (Personal Computers) It pains me to give two stars to a Samsung monitor, but I will explain in detail why. I have had great experiences with two previous 22" Samsung monitors I own. This monitor just simply does not work. First off, this monitor is not HDCP compliant which means you can't play any of the Blu-rays you own. This was a big disappointment for me as I own a Blu-ray collection and I wanted to watch movies on this screen. Secondly, most people will tilt this monitor down because of its large screen and the screen will actually sit on its base. It works, but whenever you want to tweak a setting (i.e. enter a movie, game, or eco mode), you have to tilt the screen back up which isn't convenient. The screen doesn't move easily because it's heavy and you have to get up and use both arms to lift it up.
My monitor also flickered from time to time even after I retightened all the inputs. I did not dock any stars for that because I assumed my monitor was faulty. The two stars given were based... Read more
12 of 12 people found the following review helpful Wireless USB drivers disabled my nVidia chipset (Code 43), September 9, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Samsung Central Station LC27A750XS/ZA 27-Inch Wireless Docking Display C27A750X - Charcoal (Personal Computers) Now to be fair, the recent Win7 updates and nVidia drivers seems to be give people a lot of problems, however, if you installed the wireless USB drivers from this monitor, then it will 100% disable your 3D nVidia hardare. I started to notice this when I was trying to play some games with my Alienware m11x R2 after the driver install. It took me a while to get the drivers off my system and my GT335 chipset re-enabled. I got wise after this and now I only hooked it up to my m18x via HDMI, which works perfect. Don't get me wrong, the setup worked beautifully and the panel looks great, but what's the point if you can only use it as a regular HDMI/VGA monitor? I only paid about $350 for it from Amazon so it wasn't too bad. And to be fair, my m18x did gave me a code 43 error and disabled my nVidia cards after a couple of system updates, which was fixed after a simple driver reinstall. This is not the case with the included Wireless USB drivers so beware. Also, you can run video to... Read more
